Sandberg’s decision to leave Meta was her own, and she informed Zuckerberg in a mobile call over the weekend
Sandberg said in her post that she will continue to serve on Meta's board after leaving the company in the fall.
Sandberg has lowered her profile as Zuckerberg has seized more of her responsibilities and organized the company for its new chapter.
Sandberg's announcement sent the social media firm's shares down 4%, but later the stock pullback and almost flat in day end trade.
Sandberg told last year that she and Zuckerberg had a responsibility to fix systems that had failed, while rejecting reports that she was losing power at the company.
